How to improve the reliability of offshore wind power DC booster station?

An integrated scheme of DC booster station with voltage conversion, power flow distribution and fault protection is proposed. The integration scheme includes the integration of main circuit design, converter topology and control and protection strategy, which will effectively improve the operation reliability of offshore wind power DC boost system.

How do booster stations work?

Booster stations increase pipeline pressure sufficiently to maintain the flow rate necessary to meet contract requirements. Flow rates are manipulated by starting or stopping pumps and stations rather than by throttling a control valve. Station controls vary according to the operations performed and the types of equipment employed.

What is a booster pumping station?

Booster pumping stations are essential for maintaining sufficient pressures and flow rates to efficiently operate a pipeline. Figure 1 shows a simplified layout of a typical booster pumping station. Booster stations increase pipeline pressure sufficiently to maintain the flow rate necessary to meet contract requirements.

The booster station is designed to overcome the effects of friction and energy loss that can occur during the pumping of slurry over long distances. By boosting the performance and efficiency of the dredging equipment, the booster station increases the flow rate and reduces the time required to complete the dredging process.
